ALEXXUS YOUNG'S BIO:

Born on April 18, 1982, Alexxus Young was transplanted from her L.A. birthplace to an Arkansas horse ranch. I'm Native American, a Cherokee,relates Young. It's in my blood to blend within an animal environment. I sheltered dogs, frogs, ducks, birds and cats. Not to mention the horses! I love them all. As a juvenile, Young adhered to a fantasy world for escape. Medieval fantasy, to be specific. My friends and I were into the pageantry, witches and mythology. And seances! We scared the hell out of one another. All of this segued into my choices of film-I don't know how many time that I've screened LEGEND and LABYRINTH (David Bowie was such a hotty)!

A self-professed sci-fi nerd, Alexxus admits that her photo shoots explores her genre fantasies. My favorite films include LEGEND, BLADE RUNNER, THE MATRIX and CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Another fave is PRINCESS MONONOKE: the title character's amazing determination and spirit qualifies her as a role model.

The 23-year-old actress/model grieves that the the engine behind sci-fi is male-territorial. Can you recall a woman who is inflexibly associated with sci-fi as a writer, sex symbol or contributor? Even iconic female characters are limited, in movies, to Princess Leia [STAR WARS series], Lt. Ellen Ripley [ALIEN series], Barbarella and, my personal fave, Major Anya Amasova [THE SPY WHO LOVED ME]. Anya was Bond's equal, she could kick his butt."
Anyway, sci-fi is one Boy's Club that I'm going to crack. Women are too damn smart, sexy and complicated. We'll soon rule the world-though I'm not sure which world. Until movies shape up, I'll have to be content with comic books because the illustrated femmes are hot, beautiful and assertive. There's more substance than stereotype.

Attendance at a couple of STAR TREK conventions prompted Young's subsequent alliance with science fiction. But she observed, even as a juvenile, that the genre was handicapped with its lack of female role models. Her favorite heroines were She-Ra (the distaff He-Man), Sailor Moon and the computer-synergized Jem. They were all quite animated--literally, recalls Young. There were no human embodiments of significant female roles. It's my goal to translate myself into that icon.

And she's delivering the goods: the youthful beauty has posed for esteemed artists David Nestler, Robin Evans, Monte Moore, et al. Daniel Horne, who developed the LORD OF THE RINGS toy franchise, is sculpting his steamy Eternal Lovers resin kit into Young's likeness.

The 23-year-old actress/model recently made her film debut in ARACHNIA, a hybrid of TARANTULA and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. I play "Kelly", a party girl who is afraid of the dark and spiders. Oops--hope that's not too much foreshadowing. The thriller is directed by Brett Piper, who has earned cult adulation with the likes of DRAINIAC and THEY BITE.

She's been burning the midnight oil on TANtalizer, a screenplay pitched to horror mogul Stuart Gordon ( RE-ANIMATOR, DAGON, et al). Young applied her talent for story construction (...which evolved through my comic book apprenticeship) to a dark area that the genre has never broached. My co-writer, Bill George, and I deflected generic, Jason-type platitudes and wrote 99% of the plum roles for women. We must have rewritten the critical Third Act at least 25 times. We may turn the whole foundation into a franchise.

Other activity includes a shoot with Denice Duff, a former horror hotty [SUBSPECIES II-IV] who has been transplanted to soaps [THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS]. Let's just say that Denice's photography she's something of a visionary and is on par with her acting flair. Women aren't objectified, they're rendered into sensuous images.

During her leisure time, Young is expanding the frontiers of her own comic book, Amera Galpha: Intergalactic Superheroes. It's genesis will be very likely in ashcan form, relates Young. I've created threee galaxies that are inhabited by seven to ten different races. The premise is more about theology than technology, and augmenting one's personal psyche into superpowers.
